Friendship Guesthouse and Restaurant was built in 2008 and completely washed away by a massive flood of the Alas River on 27th November 2025. The complete area of about 5000 m² with 8 bungalows, a large restaurant, a swimming pool and the private house vanished within few hours. The complete land disappeared. The basis of Ahmad's and his families live and income does not exist anymore. A reconstruction at the same place is impossible, because the Alas river have taken over this part of land.
The first fundraising campaign to support Ahmad and his family and guides and porters who worked for the Friendship Guesthouse has ended on 30 December 2025. For 15 guides and porters donations of 3.964 EUR were collected and handed over as specified by the donors. Ahmad have got 9.945 EUR plus about 116M Indonesian Rupiah from the fundraising campaign and from support of his friends.
Ahmad is overwhelmed by the unexpected great support and gives everyone a big hug together with a great thank you.
It is a good basis to buy a new piece of land and to begin rebuilding a new house for living and a guesthouse. But it won't be enough for everything. We have created a new donation link (see above) to support the reconstruction of the Friendship Guesthouse.
This website will remain open. I will keep you updated on the progress of the rebuilding of a new guesthouse. The aim is to open a new little Friendship Guesthouse in Summer 2026.
